SABAN Update | October 2010
It is with considerable regret that following a special meeting of the Advantage SA Board, a decision has been taken to discontinue the South Australian Business Ambassadors Network (SABAN) program.
The South Australian Government has been working with an independent Commission to advise it on how best to put the State’s Budget on a sustainable footing in the wake of the Global Financial Crisis.
One of the Sustainable Budget Commission’s recommendations, accepted by Cabinet, was to discontinue funding of the SABAN program.
SA Great, now Advantage SA, took over the administration of the SABAN program in August 2008 from Business SA and is both proud of and grateful for the work undertaken by the ambassadors during this period.
Under the Advantage SA administration the program saw successful in-market activities undertaken in London, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Jinan, Shanghai, Sydney and Melbourne.
Regular updates have been provided to ambassadors worldwide and significant investment and trade opportunities have been generated for the State.
Following this decision, investment and trade opportunities for South Australia should in future be directed to Lance Worrall, Chief Executive of the Department of Trade and Economic Development. Lance can be contacted on 08 8303 2280 or by email at
