SABAN
SABAN is an organisation of key business and community leaders invited by the Premier of South Australia to be Business Ambassadors for the State. Its key objectives are:

  • To identify opportunities and contribute to their development for the economic and social benefit of South Australia
  • To focus on business migration, tourism, business tourism, inward investment, importing, exporting, bilateral trade, and talent attraction and retention in line with the State’s   Strategic Plan
  • To provide a worldwide market intelligence network of benefit to economy of South Australia.

SABAN -  Background
The South Australian Business Ambassadors Network (SABAN) was established in 1998 as an inaugural project of SA Business Vision 2010 and has been managed under Business SA for the last 11 years.

Ambassadors have contributed to the program furthering the interests of South Australia across the nation and in every corner of the globe.

SABAN’s role has been to contribute to the success of South Australia gaining new valuable exports markets in the areas of agriculture, aquaculure, mining, education, defence, information technology, food and wine and tourism.

In line with SA Great’s new strategic intent, the focus for SABAN moving forward will be on external investment attraction.

Now SABAN is poised to increase its influence and build even stronger relationships to the advantage of South Australia as it enters its second decade of service.

Relationship between SA Great & Department of Trade & Economic Development
SA Great is an influential member-based organisation that connects with the South Australian Government, media, and business, to enhance confidence and pride in the State.

SA Great develops effective media campaigns and a program of activities that celebrate local success, engages with key stakeholders and works to grow confidence in South Australia’s business capabilities and opportunities.

Recently SA Great made a shift in its strategic intent to ensure that greater focus is placed on promoting South Australia outside of the state to increase business investment and the talent pool within our borders.

This philosophy is also in keeping with new directions set for the SABAN program by the South Australian government.

These changes are based on the desire to integrate the program directly with the core aims of the State’s Strategic Plan and to work far more closely with the DTED and other Government agencies.
